Much of the trail follows a narrow, rocky wash in the high desert. Any stock Land Rover can make this run. There are some optional rolling rocks near the start of the trail at Chimney Rock that can challenge even the most modifed vehicles. These rock obstacles can easily be bypassed. We will stop near a waterhole under some large cottonwood shade trees for lunch and then travel through the scenic Coronado National Forest.
Chimney Rock is a popular ATV and camping area. Most people enter from the easier south side. The trail described here comes in the lesser-used back way. Leave gates as you find them. The corridor along Redington Road is heavily used. Weekends are very busy. Much of trail follows a narrow, rocky wash with very tight brush. Good articulation, high ground clearance and skid plates recommended. Aggressive stock vehicles can make it but brush will likely scratch new paint. Route-finding is confusing at times. GPS is helpful. – www.trails.com

This trail is easily traversed by a 2wd if you approach it from the ranch side. Once you reach Chimney Rock, there are plenty of places to play regardless of your rigs capabilities. Once you leave Chimney Rock, you can either return through the ranch, or you can continue down through the wash. This is one of my favorite runs in the area. However, the run through the wash requires 4wd. It is a tight winding trail through the wash with rock obstacles, and many uphill/downhill loose ascents and descents. - www.tucsonoffroad.net
